Azasu Asian Kitchen

Azasu Asian Kitchen occupies the ground floor of Toro Center at 6 Pantelimon Halippa Street in the Centru district. It is the flagship concept of the Mentogohan group, with culinary direction from chef Shigeki Iimura. The menu described on mentogohan.com draws on the cooking of several Asian countries: ultra-crispy prawns, Tom Yum and pho soups, pad thai, yakimeshi fried rice, bao buns, karaage-style fried chicken, Sichuan steamed seabass, lime teriyaki salmon and Japanese katsu curry, alongside sushi, bowls and daily changing lunch sets. Orders can be taken away or delivered.

Google reviews show that customers are highly satisfied. Three themes recur: the flavour, described as unusual for the city; portions that are generous for how they are plated; and the staff, noted for politeness and for explaining the menu, with several guests writing that a large order came with complimentary sushi. The presence of a Japanese chef on the team is also remarked on. Complaints are isolated but useful: in one case the beef in the pho soup was served raw, and the guest raised it on the spot. If you are coming at midday, ask which set of the day is being prepared — the menu changes often.
