Institutul de Neurologie \u0219i Neurochirurgie \u201eDiomid Gherman\u201d (IMSP INN) at 2 Vladimir Korolenko Street in the Telecentru district is the country's only tertiary-level institution specialising in diseases of the nervous system, with one hundred and seventy beds and almost a hundred doctors; it bears the name of academician Diomid Gherman, and the Medical University's neurology department is based here. The emergency department works around the clock; the consultative unit works on weekdays.<\/p>\n
The institute has wards of vascular neurosurgery with an endovascular unit, spinal and functional neurosurgery, neuro-emergencies with a stroke intensive-care unit, vascular and extrapyramidal neurology, neuromuscular diseases, neuro-rehabilitation, resuscitation and an operating block; imaging includes a 3-Tesla MRI, a CT scanner and angiography. An outpatient consultation requires an ID, CNAM insurance and an F-027\/e referral from the local neurologist \u2014 as a tertiary institution it does not take direct referrals from family doctors; the uninsured pay according to published tariffs; in emergencies go straight to the emergency department.<\/p>\n
