It checks whether laws, parliamentary and government decisions, presidential decrees and international treaties comply with the Constitution, interprets the Constitution and validates the results of elections and referendums.<\/p>\n<p>The Court does not hear ordinary disputes and does not accept individual complaints directly from the public. A private person can reach it only indirectly: during a court case, a party may ask the judge to raise an exception of unconstitutionality regarding a provision applied in the case. Direct referrals are reserved for bodies listed in the law, such as MPs, the Government, the President and the Ombudsman.
