The Environment Agency operates under the Ministry of Environment and handles permitting and monitoring in environmental policy. It issues environmental permits, keeps records of pollution sources and waste, and monitors the quality of air, water and soil.<\/p>\n
Its main clients are businesses and local authorities: environmental permits for emissions and water use, waste management permits, environmental impact assessment for new projects, official opinions and environmental reporting. Residents can request public-interest environmental information and submit petitions. The agency has its own branches for the northern and southern regions.<\/p>\n
