Chișinău City Day 2026: Where to Go on October 14
Fairs, orienteering, neighbourhood activities, an exhibition at Valea Morilor, a concert and a theatre performance: what to know about Chișinău City Day.
This year, the city’s celebration falls on a Wednesday. The full schedule for the main stage has not been published yet, but several fairs, a sporting event and concerts have already been announced. Here are some ideas for planning your day and details worth checking before you head out.
On October 14, Chișinău celebrates City Day, known locally as Hramul orașului. The municipal programme is planned for central locations: Great National Assembly Square, Cathedral Square and Eugen Doga pedestrian street. A public-register entry filed on October 5 also lists Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Boulevard, between Vasile Alecsandri and Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni streets. However, as of October 8, a detailed concert schedule and performer list have not been published. Check the Mayor’s Office updates before the celebration. Public events register
Browse the local fairs
Fairs featuring local producers are planned near Cathedral Square and on Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Boulevard, between Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni and Maria Cebotari streets. The applications list the hours as 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. You can combine a visit to the fairs with a walk through the city centre and along Eugen Doga pedestrian street. A sporting outing beyond the centre
If you’d like to spend part of the day away from the main stage, consider the municipal orienteering championship “Toamna de Aur”. It is listed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 63A Nicolae H. Costin Street, near Onisifor Ghibu Lyceum. This is a separate event in the Buiucani district, not part of the central city programme. See the register
Another unusual stop is an exhibition organised by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Valea Morilor Park. The register lists the event from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with 44 stands. Before you go, check with the organisers what will be on display and whether the exhibition is open to visitors. Consult the public register
Celebrations in the city districts
At the Ciocana square by the amphitheatre, cultural activities for children and adults and local-producer participation are listed from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. This could be an alternative for anyone who prefers a neighbourhood atmosphere and wants to avoid the crowds in the centre.
The register also lists cultural activities in the Centru district, at Mihai Eminescu and Mihai Dolgan squares and by the granite steps in Valea Morilor, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A guitar performance is separately listed on Eugen Doga pedestrian street from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. No detailed schedule has been published for these activities, so check the organisers’ updates before setting out.
