Republican Experimental Centre for Prosthetics, Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation (CREPOR)

Centrul Republican Experimental Protezare, Ortopedie și Reabilitare (CREPOR) at 1 Romană Street in the Râșcani district is Moldova's only medical-technical institution that manufactures prostheses, orthoses and orthopaedic footwear and is at the same time a rehabilitation hospital for people with musculoskeletal conditions; it traces its origins to the prosthetics plant of 1945 and is subordinated to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. It works on weekdays from early morning.

The centre has a consultative-diagnostic department with an orthopaedic traumatologist, neurologist, internist, ophthalmologist, radiology and a laboratory, an outpatient prosthetic-orthopaedic unit with prosthetic technicians, three rehabilitation wards with physical medicine and balneology and an inpatient unit for primary and atypical prosthetics — over one hundred and fifty beds in total — plus the production workshops. Assistive devices are prescribed by the orthopaedic prosthetist: free for people with locomotor disabilities, veterans, pensioners and children, at half price for other disabilities and paid for everyone else; inpatient rehabilitation is under CNAM insurance, with booking by phone.

Patient opinions are generally good: reviews thank the doctors and staff for their care during rehabilitation courses and praise the reception; complaints concern unanswered phones, closure during the holiday period and foreign citizens being turned away.
