The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the lending institution of the European Union, providing loans, guarantees and advisory support for development projects. Its Chișinău office coordinates the bank's work in Moldova: financing roads, water and energy infrastructure, education and health projects, and credit lines through which local banks lend to small and medium-sized enterprises.
The office does not lend to individuals. Entrepreneurs can access EIB funding indirectly through partner commercial banks. It is mainly contacted by public authorities, companies bidding in tenders for EIB-financed projects, journalists, and anyone looking for project information or wishing to file a complaint through the bank's complaints mechanism.
