Moldova's Ministry of Finance shapes the state's fiscal and budget policy: it drafts the state budget, manages public debt and the treasury, and sets the rules on taxes, fees, accounting and audit. The State Tax Service, the Customs Service and other institutions operate under it.
Residents and accountants turn to the ministry for clarification of tax legislation and accounting standards, to take part in public consultations on draft regulations, or to file petitions. Tax returns, payments and tax certificates are handled by the State Tax Service, not the ministry. The website has an FAQ section and a Write to the Minister form.
