Clinicl Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorbă”
Clinics & Hospitals in Buiucani, Chișinău
Spitalul Clinic de Boli Infecțioase „Toma Ciorbă” at 163 Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard in the Buiucani district is the national infectious-diseases hospital — the first of its kind in Bessarabia, opened in 1896 at the initiative of physician Toma Ciorbă. The admissions unit receives emergencies around the clock, including weekends; the consultative centre and wards work on weekday mornings.
The hospital has over one hundred and sixty beds for adults and children in seven treatment wards, intensive care, and a central laboratory with biochemistry, clinical, bacteriology and immunology sections; it is the clinical base of the infectious-diseases departments of the Medical University. An infectious-disease consultation requires an F-027/e referral and CNAM insurance; without a referral or for uninsured patients services are paid, except for socially significant diseases and emergencies — hepatitis A, meningitis, measles, tick bites. Recent documents mention a reorganisation together with the dermatology hospital in Codru.
Patient opinions are divided: thanks to attending doctors and for the kindness on the wards, but also complaints about the reception, about patients sent home from emergency with a high fever and about waiting.
