The General Directorate for Medical and Social Assistance (DGAMS) of the Chișinău Municipal Council took over the duties of the former Health Directorate and the social assistance directorate. It coordinates the city's municipal medical institutions — polyclinics, health centres and municipal hospitals — together with municipal social services.
Residents contact DGAMS with questions or complaints about municipal medical institutions and access to primary care, and about social support: aid for vulnerable families, services for older people and people with disabilities, and community social work. For an actual doctor's appointment you need to go to the polyclinic or health centre where you are registered.
