Spitalul Clinic de Psihiatrie (IMSP SCP) at 3 Costiujeni Street in the town of Codru next to Chișinău is the largest psychiatric institution in the Republic of Moldova, founded in 1895 on the former Costiujeni monastery estate; the historic buildings were designed by the architect Bernardazzi, and the Three Hierarchs church stands on the grounds. The administration and the consultative unit work on weekdays.
The hospital has over seven hundred beds in eleven inpatient wards — adult and child psychiatry, somatopsychiatry, psychosomatics — plus intensive care, court-ordered treatment wards, an outpatient psychiatric consultation unit, a laboratory, functional diagnostics and physiotherapy. Planned admission requires a referral from the district psychiatrist and CNAM insurance; emergencies come via 112; psychiatrist and psychologist consultations are booked by phone, and investigations can be done for a fee.
Opinions are divided and emotionally charged, as is natural for a hospital of this profile: relatives complain about staff attitude, conditions and poor information on patients' condition; other reviews thank the doctors and note improvements in the renovated wards.
