Tourism brought Moldova 959.8 million dollars in services exports in 2025
In 2025, tourism generated 959.8 million US dollars in services exports for Moldova, according to the Employers’ Association of the Tourism Industry (APIT). “Travel and tourism” has become the largest single category of the country’s services exports, accounting for almost 30% of the total.
That is about 2.3 times more than in 2021 and 16% above 2024. Money spent by foreign visitors flows to hotels and guesthouses, restaurants, wineries, transport companies, heritage sites and creative industries. APIT wants inbound tourism treated as part of export policy and lists its priorities: competitive tourism products, better connectivity, investment, digitalisation, staff training and destination management.
The trend continues in 2026: according to National Bank data, services exports grew 13.2% year on year in Q2 to 790.7 million euros, driven mainly by travel and IT.
What it means for you
- Hotels, restaurants, wineries and travel agencies may find opportunities in foreign visitor demand. Before making larger investments, test services in other languages, online booking and packages; export growth alone does not guarantee that a particular business will be profitable.
- Transport providers, guides and local producers can benefit from partnerships with tour operators.
