The National Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities (ANRANR) regulates and inspects all work involving ionising radiation sources in Moldova. It is responsible for radiation and nuclear safety, keeps the register of radioactive sources and oversees the management of radioactive waste.
Its clients are hospitals, clinics, laboratories and companies using X-ray equipment or other radiation sources: licences for nuclear and radiological activities, practice permits for staff working with radiation, and permits for the import, export and transport of radioactive materials. For private individuals the agency is mainly a source of information on radiation safety.
