Centre of Forensic Medicine
Clinics & Hospitals in Telecentre, Chișinău
Centrul de Medicină Legală (CML) at 8 Vladimir Korolenko Street in the Telecentru district is the national forensic-medicine institution under the Ministry of Health, with origins in 1951 and its current status since 1996; it coordinates thirty-six territorial units across the country and is a clinical base of the Medical University. The clinical unit receives people on weekdays and Saturday mornings; reception and release of bodies is around the clock.
It is not a hospital: it examines persons to establish injuries, performs autopsies, panel and forensic-psychiatric expertise, histology, toxicology (ISO-accredited laboratory), forensic biology and genetics, and medico-criminalistic investigations. Services are provided at the request of criminal-investigation bodies, prosecutors and courts, or on application by interested persons — for a fee, according to published tariffs; there is no route via insurance or a family doctor. The institution's old domain no longer works; the current site is on the government platform.
Reviews are few and rather negative: hours of waiting with children, cold corridors, parking reserved for staff; one review values the institution for its organisation and its role in training doctors.
