State Pedagogical University “Ion Creangă”

The “Ion Creangă” State Pedagogical University has been training primary and secondary school teachers and kindergarten educators for Moldova since 1940. Its campus, including student halls, is at 1 Ion Creangă Street in Buiucani. Programmes run at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level in education sciences, psychology, philology, history, visual arts and design, special educational needs and other fields, and a continuing-education centre offers retraining for teachers.

The university’s website, upsc.md, puts admissions, scholarships and academic life first — competition wins by graduates, events and educational projects. For children there is the interactive Science Time Machine exhibition.

Google ratings are very good. Graduates praise the teaching staff as qualified, approachable and committed to students, and visitors note that the building has been noticeably modernised in recent years. Criticism is mostly about facilities: lifts that do not always work, heating in winter and a courtyard still awaiting renovation.
