Heating in Chisinau up 62% from 1 October: 3,277 lei per gigacalorie
3,277 lei (excluding VAT) — the new price per gigacalorie of heat supplied by Termoelectrica, approved by the energy regulator ANRE on 28 September. It applies from 1 October 2026.
Termoelectrica customers have been paying 2,020 lei/Gcal, so the increase is 1,257 lei, or about 62%. In Balti, the CET-Nord tariff rises to 3,374 lei/Gcal (+53%). ANRE attributes the change mainly to more expensive natural gas, which accounts for over 80% of production costs at urban combined heat and power plants. At the same meeting the regulator also approved a new household gas tariff of 26.14 lei per cubic metre including VAT, up from 20.30 lei.
What it means for you
- Offices, shops, clinics and private schools on district heating in Chisinau will see higher bills from this heating season.
- Homeowners associations and building managers should revise their winter budgets and check meters and insulation.
- Commercial tenants: check your lease to see who pays for heating.
