Fund of Funds for SMEs: Economy Ministry holds talks with IFC and DFC
Moldova’s Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation is expanding the Fund of Funds — the mechanism through which the state draws private capital into startups and small and medium-sized enterprises. A delegation led by State Secretary Natalia Selevestru held consultations in Washington and New York with IFC, the U.S. DFC, the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, Open Society Foundations, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Malk Partners and Trimtab Impact.
The parties agreed on several priorities: identifying companies ready to raise investment, supporting corporate governance and financial reporting, attracting experienced fund managers from the region and building local teams. The recommendations will shape the next stages.
The fund operates within FACEM and is managed by ODA. ODA provides guarantees to investment partners, who must raise at least three private lei for every public leu.
What it means for you
- Companies seeking growth capital: get your financial reporting and governance in order — that is what investors will look at.
- Startups and SMEs: watch for ODA announcements on partner funds.
- Investment funds: the state offers guarantees to those who bring private capital to Moldova.
