Auto services in Buiucani and Durlești: how to choose the right workshop
Six workshops with different specializations, Google data and a practical checklist for diagnosis, estimates and repair collection.
Cars do not break down by district, but distance to a workshop suddenly matters when the engine overheats, the brakes make noise or the vehicle will not start. Buiucani and Durlești have both general workshops and specialists focused on particular makes or systems. A sensible choice starts not with the highest map score, but with a better question: who regularly repairs this problem on this type of vehicle?
Yell checked six local workshops, information published by the businesses and Google Places data available on 1 September 2026. This is not a ranking. The guide explains what each workshop is suited to, how to compare two estimates and what to agree before the first component is removed.
In brief: match complex faults to the relevant specialist, price diagnosis separately from repair, agree the parts brand and set a threshold above which the workshop must ask for approval. A Google score is a clue, not a diagnosis.
Six workshops with different profiles
| Workshop | Area | Particularly relevant for | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tor-Auto | Buiucani | general, mechanical and electrical repairs | 4.3 · 114 ratings |
| VAG Service | Buiucani | Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda and SEAT | 4.3 · 247 |
| Ravenol Service Auto | Buiucani | oils, filters, fluids and maintenance | 4.8 · 48 |
| AvtoMaster | Durlești | radiators, air conditioning, trucks and machinery | 3.6 · 88 |
| Kraev Motors | Durlești | German and Swedish vehicles | 4.8 · 32 |
| Auto Service Ford Transit | Durlești | Ford Transit and commercial vehicles | 4.6 · 378 |
The selection is geographically balanced, with three addresses in Buiucani and three in Durlești. It is not six versions of the same workshop. An oil change, an air-conditioning fault and a van transmission problem call for different experience and equipment.
Choose the type of workshop first
For general servicing and repair, Tor-Auto covers engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical work and consumables. A general workshop is practical when the fault is understood or several routine jobs need one visit.
For Volkswagen Group vehicles, VAG Service focuses on Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda and SEAT. A workshop that repeatedly sees the same platforms is more likely to recognize familiar symptoms and understand make-specific diagnostics.
For scheduled maintenance, Ravenol Service Auto is oriented towards oils, filters and technical fluids. Bring the vehicle schedule: oil specification and quantity should not be chosen from the car’s age alone.
For cooling, air conditioning and heavy vehicles, AvtoMaster has a distinct profile: radiators, air conditioners, trucks, buses, trailers and machinery. Its 3.6 rating is notably lower than the others. Specialization explains inclusion; it does not remove the risk. Agree timing, the estimate, paperwork and approval of extras before leaving the vehicle.
For German and Swedish cars, Kraev Motors says it has operated since 1998. Long experience is relevant, but a concrete question is still better than general reputation: “Have you recently worked on this engine or transmission?”
For Ford Transit and commercial vehicles, Auto Service Ford Transit has the largest rating base here. Downtime can cost more than the part on a working van, so ask when work will actually start and whether components are available.
Diagnosis is not replacing the first suspicious part
Explain whether the symptom appears cold or hot, under braking, while turning, under load, with air conditioning running or after rain. Mention recent repairs and do not clear fault codes before the visit. A video that captures the sound and dashboard is more useful than “something knocks at the front.”
Ask what diagnosis costs, what it includes and whether the charge is credited towards repair. For a complex fault, diagnosis is legitimately separate work. A useful result is not just an error code, but the measurements and reasoning connecting it to a component.
What to send when booking
- make, model, year, engine and VIN when needed;
- the symptom and conditions in which it occurs;
- a dashboard photo and video of the noise;
- recent repairs and parts already replaced;
- whether the vehicle is safe to drive;
- the real date by which it is needed.
How to compare two estimates
A total sent by message is not yet an itemized estimate. Ask for diagnosis, labor, parts and consumables to be separated. The part maker or at least its class should be clear: original, aftermarket, remanufactured or used. A cheaper offer may omit coolant, wheel alignment, seals or a required post-installation procedure.
The FTC guide to auto repair recommends that a written estimate identify the problem, parts and labor and provide for approval before a stated limit is exceeded. These are not Moldovan legal rules, but they make a useful checklist.
| Section | What should be clear | Useful question |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnosis | operations, measurements and charge | Will I receive findings and codes? |
| Labor | separate jobs | What changes if fasteners are seized? |
| Parts | maker, code, condition and warranty | Original, aftermarket or remanufactured? |
| Consumables | oil, coolant, fluid and seals | Are they included and to what specification? |
| Extras | approval threshold | Will you call before an overrun? |
A cheap part can make labor expensive twice
A budget alternative can be reasonable for an accessible component. If half the engine bay must be dismantled, compare the saving with the risk of paying the same labor again. Ask whether the warranty covers only the component or repeated removal and installation as well.
Keep the part code and maker. “We fitted a good one” ages badly when the next mechanic needs to identify it. For oils and fluids, the required specification matters more than the container design.
When not to drive to the workshop
Stop and discuss recovery if the red oil-pressure warning appears, temperature reaches the critical zone, the brake pedal suddenly changes, steering becomes difficult, there is a strong fuel smell or unusual smoke. Continuing can turn a localized fault into engine, transmission or brake damage.
Do not open the cooling-system cap while the engine is hot. A failed air conditioner usually allows a planned visit; overheating, brakes and oil pressure require safety to come first.
What 907 Google ratings can show
On 1 September 2026, the six profiles had 907 Google ratings and a rating-count-weighted average of about 4.4 out of 5. This describes the group; it does not identify a winner. Workshops with 32 and 378 ratings have different evidence bases, while the overall score mixes simple and difficult jobs.
Read reviews about work similar to yours. Check dates, details and how the business answers criticism. One emotional account is not a verdict, but repeated issues with timing, estimates or communication show what should be fixed in writing.
AvtoMaster’s 3.6 score calls for closer checking of terms. Auto Service Ford Transit’s 378 ratings provide a larger feedback pool but do not promise an available lift tomorrow. Stars can shape questions; they cannot approve the estimate.
Practical advice from experienced customers
Do not warm the car before a cold-start complaint. Leave it overnight or book the first morning slot.
Do not clear errors before diagnosis. History and recorded conditions can matter.
Photograph mileage and bodywork at handover. It is a simple record useful to both sides.
Leave the locking-wheel-nut key and remove valuables. Routine work should not stop because the key is at home.
Ask to see replaced parts where practical. It helps explain wear, except for exchange units or controlled disposal.
Make the first post-repair drive a short local loop. Check warning lights, temperature, noises and leaks before crossing the city.
Handover and collection checklist
| At handover | At collection |
|---|---|
| written symptoms and approved work | final order with labor and parts |
| mileage, fuel and photos | start-up, warning lights and repaired functions |
| parts brand and extra-cost limit | warranty and its conditions |
| completion estimate and contact | old parts and next recommendations |
| method for approving new work | short test drive and leak check |
After a major repair, inspect the parking space the next morning. A fresh trace of oil, coolant or brake fluid should be reported immediately. Keep the estimate, payment document and part codes: memory is helpful, but paperwork is more consistent.
Frequently asked questions
Is a general or specialist workshop better?
A good general workshop can handle routine work. Difficult diagnosis, a particular make, air conditioning, radiators or commercial vehicles may benefit from a specialist.
Do I pay for diagnosis if I repair elsewhere?
Diagnosis may carry a separate charge. Ask what it includes and whether it is credited towards repair.
Can I get an exact price by phone?
Sometimes for a standard operation. A fault usually needs diagnosis and part identification first.
What if the estimate rises?
Set an approval threshold. Ask for the reason, extra component and revised total before agreeing.
Is the Google rating enough?
No. Compare rating count and date, specialization, reviews about the relevant job, the estimate and warranty.
When should I use recovery?
When driving may increase damage or compromise safety: overheating, oil pressure, brakes, steering, fuel leakage or smoke.
