ANRE proposes a 28.8% gas price increase for households from October 1
ANRE proposes raising the household gas price from 20.30 to 26.14 lei per m³. Decision due on September 28.
26.14 lei — the price households in Moldova may pay for one cubic metre of natural gas from October 1, VAT included, up from 20.30 lei today.
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) has published a draft of the new tariff: an increase of 5.84 lei per m³, or 28.8%. The supplier Energocom had asked for slightly more — 26.25 lei. ANRE is scheduled to take the final decision at its meeting on September 28.
Two factors drive the increase. The first is the cost of gas for the fourth quarter: 159.76 million m³ at an average purchase price of 839.88 euros per 1,000 m³, or about 2.72 billion lei. The second is Energocom’s deficit of 182 million lei accumulated in January–September 2026; after deducting the surplus left over from 2025, about 167.2 million lei net is built into the tariff to be recovered by year-end.
What it means for you
- At 100 m³ a month, a household gas bill rises by roughly 584 lei.
- If you rent out property with utilities included, recalculate the rent for the heating season.
- For employers: household costs go up right at the start of the heating season — expect conversations about pay.
- The tariff is not yet approved: watch for ANRE’s decision on September 28.
