Inspectoratul de Stat al Muncii

The State Labour Inspectorate (ISM) is the authority that enforces labour law and occupational health and safety rules in Moldova. Its inspectors carry out scheduled and unscheduled checks on employers, investigate workplace accidents and tackle undeclared work.

Employees turn to the inspectorate when wages are paid late, when they work without a contract, when they have been dismissed unlawfully or when working conditions are unsafe. Employers can use its compliance guides, inspection checklists and explanations of their rights and duties, including the register of day labourers. Foreign employees working in Moldova are covered by the same labour rules.
