Curtea Constituțională
Courts and prosecution in Buiucani
The Constitutional Court is Moldova's sole body of constitutional jurisdiction. It checks whether laws, parliamentary and government decisions, presidential decrees and international treaties comply with the Constitution, interprets the Constitution and validates the results of elections and referendums.
The Court does not hear ordinary disputes and does not accept individual complaints directly from the public. A private person can reach it only indirectly: during a court case, a party may ask the judge to raise an exception of unconstitutionality regarding a provision applied in the case. Direct referrals are reserved for bodies listed in the law, such as MPs, the Government, the President and the Ombudsman. Hearing schedules, judgments and opinions are published online.
The Court sits at 28 Alexandru Lăpușneanu Street in the Buiucani district. Phone: +373 22 253 708, email: [email protected]. The website constcourt.md is available in Romanian, Russian and English.
