Moldova asks the EU for a five-year transition for the 7% IT Park tax regime
Moldova is asking the European Union for a five-year post-accession transition period for its current business support schemes, including the Moldova IT Park tax regime. Brussels has not accepted the request so far and has asked for more information, according to the EU negotiating position on Cluster 2 “Internal Market” dated 12 October 2026.
IT Park residents currently pay a single 7% tax on sales revenue that replaces several taxes and contributions. The request also covers the preferential tax regime for SMEs and incentives in industrial parks, which hosted over 100 companies and had attracted about EUR 210 million in investment by 2024. The government argues that early removal would hurt tax predictability and investor confidence.
The European Commission wants details on the scope, beneficiaries and amounts of state aid before taking a position.
What it means for you
- For IT companies the 7% regime is unchanged for now — the debate is about the period after accession.
- If long-term plans rely on tax incentives, expect them to be adapted to EU state aid rules.
- Follow the Cluster 2 talks: they will decide the future of SME and industrial park incentives.
