SMEs may get ODA grants for energy storage batteries
Small and medium-sized enterprises are set to receive grants for installing energy storage systems. The programme will be funded through the Organisation for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu said. The Competition Council has already issued a decision on the support scheme.
The aim is energy autonomy for businesses: companies with solar panels can store daytime output and use it in the evening peak, drawing less from the grid. The grant size, the required own contribution and the date applications open have not been announced.
The minister noted that import duty on batteries for storage projects has been cut from 5% to zero for two years, and the authorities are discussing changes to the VAT mechanism. Moldova is estimated to have about 240–250 MWh of storage installed by private investors, possibly rising to 300–350 MWh by year-end.
What it means for you
- If your business already has solar panels, a battery lets you use more of your own power — and a grant may cover part of the cost.
- Terms are not published yet: prepare a technical quote and consumption data now so you can apply quickly.
- Watch ODA announcements for the call launch.
