Small food producers could start work by simply notifying ANSA
Small food producers in low-risk categories could start operating after a simple notification to the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), without waiting for prior approval. The measures were announced on 15 October by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and will now go through consultation.
Examples given include artisan bread, biscuits and some pastry products. The Government also wants a legal framework for producing and selling home-made food, for instance at fairs and events.
ANSA and the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation are working on allowing some small activities without registering an SRL (LLC). Inspection frequency for small producers would depend on the risk level of their activity.
What it means for you
- Small bakeries, confectioners and artisan producers could launch faster and with less paperwork.
- Those now selling home-made food informally could operate legally.
- These are still proposals — watch for the drafts in public consultation.
